Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr made history by clinching both the Best African Music Act and Best International Music Act awards. This remarkable achievement marks the first time in 16 years that a female artist has taken home the Best African Music Act honor. In the international category, Ayra surpassed industry giants like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Kendrick Lamar.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, an emotional Ayra Starr expressed:
“This is my first MOBO. I’m shaking right now. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me—my team, my label MAVINS, and my family. This means everything to me. Thank you, MOBOs!”
Central Cee Equals Record
British rapper Central Cee continued his impressive streak by winning Best Male Act for the second consecutive year. This victory ties him with Stormzy, each boasting seven MOBO awards—a testament to Central Cee’s significant impact on the UK rap scene.
