2026 FIFA WCQ | Why Chukwueze And Osimhen Won’t Be Part Of Nigeria Squad – Peseiro
Super Eagles head coach José Peseiro, has confirmed that the duo of Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze will not be part of Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Both players were injured in Nigeria’s friendly against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia last month.
While Chukwueze has returned to training, Osimhen is still recovering from the injury.
Peseiro confirmed that both Chukwieze and Osimhen would not be called up for the games against the Likuena and Warriors.
Speaking on why he won’t invite them, Peseiro told TV Play, according to Milan Reports that he does not want to risk them further.
In his words, “Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks.”
“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”
