El Kanemi Warriors today won a third Nigerian FA Cup after they defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final of the cup competition played in Lagos.

Ibrahim Salihu netted a brace for the Maiduguri club. He hit target in the 31st and 65th minutes.

This was after the Abia Warriors goalkeeper Ali Ishaku saved a penalty as early as the 12th minute.

El Kanemi, who previously won the cup in 1991 and 1992, will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.

They have also regained their place in the NPFL after they won promotion during an NNL playoff.

In the women’s version of the President Federation Cup, Rivers Angels pipped Naija Ratels 1-0 to win the competition.
