Man Catches Wife With Plumber, Files for Divorce After 14 Years of Marriage

Drama unfolded in Ibadan as Kehinde Balogun, a businessman, sought to end his 14-year marriage to his wife, Stella, citing alleged infidelity with their plumber.

The emotional case was heard at a Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, where both parties shared their sides of the story.

A Shocking Discovery

Balogun, a father of three, told the court he was devastated after uncovering his wife’s alleged extramarital affair with their plumber. “My lord, I was completely frustrated when I found out. If I had known this would be my fate, I wouldn’t have exchanged vows with her,” he lamented.

According to Balogun, the situation worsened when Stella moved out of their matrimonial home, taking some of his belongings and abandoning their three children.

Allegations and Counterclaims

During cross-examination, Balogun refuted claims that his wife ever caught him with another woman. He also denied accusations of sharing her photographs with anyone.

In her defence, Stella denied the allegations of adultery, blaming a friend for planting false claims in her husband’s mind.

“One of my friends lied to Balogun that I was unfaithful. Since then, he turned against me, started abusing me, and stopped coming home,” Stella told the court.

She also accused Balogun of sharing her photographs with another woman and claimed he had remarried while neglecting their children.

Court’s Verdict

After hearing both sides, the court’s president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, ruled that the marriage had irretrievably broken down as neither party was willing to reconcile. She officially dissolved the union and granted an order restraining Stella from harassing or interfering with Balogun’s private life.

This case highlights the emotional turmoil that accompanies broken trust and unresolved conflicts in marriage, leaving the court to deliver the final verdict on a once-thriving union.
