Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh Warns Fans About New Scam Targeting Public Spaces

Nollywood star and humanitarian Tonto Dikeh has again taken to her social media page to share a vital public service announcement.

This time, she’s raising awareness about a cunning new scam tactic that could potentially put unsuspecting individuals in harm’s way.

In her post, Dikeh described the alarming scheme, which begins with a scammer falsely accusing someone of making a fake bank transfer for an alleged purchase.

What makes this strategy particularly dangerous is the dramatic scene the scammer creates—crying, wailing, and drawing a crowd to pressure their target into resolving the issue on the spot.

“New scam alert!” Dikeh warned. “Beware: Someone could approach you in public, crying and wailing, accusing you of making a fake transfer for something you allegedly bought. A crowd gathers tensions rise, and you’re forced to either pay up or risk jungle justice.”

This deceptive tactic, as Dikeh explained, can escalate quickly, leading to public embarrassment, wasted time, loss of money or belongings, and in extreme cases, mob action before proper help can arrive.

The actress, known for her candid approach to public matters, urged fans to remain vigilant. She emphasized the importance of staying alert, particularly in public spaces, and encouraged everyone to take precautions to avoid falling victim.

“Stay vigilant and stay safe because outside is wild these days,” she added in her post.

As the festive season approaches—a time when such scams often increase—Dikeh’s timely warning is a crucial reminder to keep our wits about us. Whether it’s verifying claims, staying calm under pressure, or seeking assistance from law enforcement, staying alert could make all the difference.

Let’s take this as an opportunity to protect ourselves and our communities. Spread the word and stay safe!
