Flamingos Set to Battle Black Maidens in WAFU Zone B U17 Championship Final

The stage is set for an electrifying showdown as Nigeria’s Flamingos take on Ghana’s Black Maidens in the final of the inaugural WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Championship.

The much-anticipated clash will take place this Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Ghanaian Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, Ghana.

The Flamingos earned their spot in the final with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Benin in the second semi-final on Thursday evening.

Peace Effiong opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while Harmony Chidi sealed the win with another decisive strike. The team’s resilience and sharp finishing secured their ticket to the ultimate match.

On the other hand, Ghana’s Black Maidens delivered a commanding performance earlier in the day, thrashing Ivory Coast 5-0 in a dominant display. With the hosts riding high on confidence and home support, the final promises to be a battle of wits and skill between two of the region’s finest U17 sides.

Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olówóokere, had earlier predicted a tough challenge against Benin, and his team rose to the occasion. Speaking after the match, he expressed confidence in his players’ ability to deliver in the final against the formidable Black Maidens.
