Seven Doors Exudes Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha’s Boldness and Dedication to Her Craft

Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha, one of Nollywood’s most versatile actresses, has once again proven her dedication to her craft in the recently released Netflix series, Seven Doors.

In the gripping drama, Akpotha steps into the regal role of an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, played by the iconic Femi Adebayo. The series intricately weaves themes of kingship, kinship, love, betrayal, and restitution, captivating viewers with its rich storytelling.

But behind her flawless performance lay hours of preparation, especially learning Yoruba—a language outside her cultural roots.

Appearing alongside her co-star in an interview with TVC, Akpotha revealed the lengths she went to in preparing for the role.

“I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors. The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one spoken in Lagos State, so I had to be very particular about the tone.”
