Suspect Caught Dismembering A Stolen Vehicle Pleads for Forgiveness

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has arrested a 27-year-old automobile technician, Abiodun Ajao, for allegedly stealing and dismembering a customer’s vehicle.

The car, with number plate Lagos BDG 956-FJ, was reportedly taken for repairs before it was found being dismantled for parts.

How It Happened

According to the Public Relations Officer of Ogun NSCDC Command, Dyke Ogbonnaya, the suspect drove the vehicle from Lagos to Idona, Ijebu Imusin, in Ogun State, where he had already begun dismantling it for sale before being apprehended.

Ogbonnaya explained that when questioned, Ajao initially claimed that the vehicle’s engine was faulty and unusable. He said:

“The engine of the vehicle is bad, and I’m just trying to find some buyers for the parts since the engine is knocked and unusable.”

However, further investigation revealed a different story.

Test-Drive or Theft?

Ajao later admitted that the vehicle had been brought to him for repairs. He claimed he was test-driving it to confirm the quality of his work before delivering it to the owner. Shockingly, he confessed to having driven the car across parts of Lagos with passengers before taking it to Ijebu Imusin in Ogun State, where he was caught disassembling the car.
