Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games: Nigeria’s Table Tennis Team Beat Malaysia, Qualify For Semi-Final

Nigeria’s male table tennis team defeated the unrelenting Malaysia team 3-1 to progress into the semifinals of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in the United Kingdom.

The Nigeria team won three singles, lost one, and the men’s double.

The decider match which was between number 15 seeded Aruna Quadri and MAS Javen Choong started with the Nigerian losing his first set 7-11, before bouncing back to three straight wins of 11-8, 11-5, and 11-9

The Nigerian team leveled up again through Omotayo with a 3-1 win ( 8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 6-11) Chee Feng Leong in the third singles.

And in the decider, Aruna overcame Javen Choong 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 5-11, 9-11) to help Nigeria into the semis.

Nigeria will now meet India in the semi-final which comes up on Monday.
