Commonwealth Games | Ese Brume Wins Long Jump Gold Medal For Team Nigeria
Nigeria’s Ese Brume has delivered a gold medal for team Nigeria after jumping 7m to emerge Gold medal winner.
Ese Brume broke the Commonwealth Games record to win Team Nigeria’s 12th gold medal at the ongoing event in Birmingham
Brume put herself in a commanding position for the gold medal after her fourth attempt gave her a new Commonwealth Games record of 6.99m.
The 26-year-old broke the Games record again a few minutes later with her last attempt, after a leap of 7.00m to put her way ahead to clinch Nigeria’s last gold of Day 10.
The Nigerian fended off competition from Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehl and Deborah Acquah from Ghana, who both finished in second and third positions with leaps of 6.95m and 6.94m respectively. Her compatriot, Osaro, ended up in the sixth position.
Ese is now a two-time long jump champion after being denied the opportunity to defend her 2014 in 2018
At the end of Day 10, Team Nigeria occupies the seventh position on the medals table with 12 gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals.
