“There is no gainsaying that there are a lot of powerful persons interested in this matter. On one hand, we have Burna Boy, and on the other hand, the police seem to be acting based on sentiments and emotions rather than the law.”

Alieke detailed how the conflict began, alleging that Burna Boy’s grievances stemmed from videos posted by Speed Darlington, which the singer claimed damaged his reputation and cost him gigs.
> “If Burna claims defamation, the proper step is to go to court and seek legal remedies, but he is using the police to do this because he has the connection and power.”
According to Alieke, during a meeting at the Deputy Inspector General of Police’s office in Abuja, Burna Boy’s legal team demanded Speed Darlington stop making videos about him and issue a public apology—terms which were reportedly agreed upon.
