Donald Trump Introduces $5 Million ‘Gold Card’ Residency for Wealthy Immigrants, Russian Oligarchs

Donald Trump Introduces $5 Million ‘Gold Card’ Residency for Wealthy Immigrants

In a bold new immigration policy, U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled the Donald Trump Gold Card, a high-priced alternative to the traditional green card, allowing wealthy individuals to secure residency in the United States for a staggering $5 million.

The initiative, announced Tuesday in the Oval Office, aims to attract high-net-worth individuals, job creators, and entrepreneurs while simultaneously helping to reduce the U.S. national deficit.

A Pathway for the Elite

Trump, known for his pro-business stance and focus on economic growth, emphasized that the Gold Card residency program would serve as a gateway to U.S. citizenship for those who can afford the price tag.

“We’re going to be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million,” Trump declared to reporters.

He further highlighted the program’s benefits, stating, “A lot of people are going to want to be in this country, and they’ll be able to work, provide jobs, and build companies.”

Exclusive & Vetted Applicants

According to Trump, all applicants for the Gold Card would undergo rigorous vetting to ensure only individuals with a clean record and substantial financial means are granted residency. The program is set to launch within the next two weeks, with the administration expecting to sell up to a million of these cards.

Russian Oligarchs Welcome?

When asked whether Russian oligarchs—many of whom have faced severe Western sanctions since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine—would be eligible, Trump did not rule out the possibility.

“Possibly. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people. It’s possible,” Trump stated, adding, “They’re not as wealthy as they used to be. I think they can afford $5 million.”

His remarks have sparked international debate, particularly in European capitals, where concerns are growing over his administration’s approach to Russia and the ongoing Ukraine war. Trump has already signaled potential negotiations with Moscow, raising speculation about his stance on lifting sanctions in the future.

Funding the National Deficit

Standing alongside Trump in the Oval Office, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick backed the initiative, emphasizing its financial benefits.

“We can use that money to reduce our deficit,” Lutnick said, reinforcing the administration’s focus on leveraging the program as an economic strategy.

A ‘Trump’ Branded Initiative?

In true Trump fashion, the former real estate mogul and branding expert suggested that the program might even bear his name.

“Somebody said, ‘Can we call it the Trump Gold Card?’ I said, ‘If it helps, use the name Trump.’”

A Controversial Move

The announcement has already sparked intense debate within the U.S. and abroad. While some view it as a strategic move to attract global wealth and investment, critics argue that it commodifies U.S. residency and disproportionately favors the ultra-rich over hardworking immigrants seeking a better life.

With the official launch just weeks away, all eyes are on the Trump administration to see how this program unfolds and whether it will truly reshape the U.S. immigration landscape.

What’s Next?

As the Gold Card program prepares for its rollout, more details on the application process, eligibility criteria, and long-term implications are expected to be released. Stay tuned for further updates on this controversial and unprecedented immigration policy.
