FCT Police Command Raids Illegal Drug Spots Across Abuja
In a determined effort to curb the menace of illicit drug activities, operatives of the FCT Police Command, under the Anti-Narcotics Unit, carried out a series of coordinated raids across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The operation, which targeted known hotspots for the sale and consumption of illegal substances, was successfully executed on Tuesday, January 23, 2025.
Hotspots Targeted
The raid focused on four key locations identified as hubs for criminal drug activities:
- SDP Junction, Gwagwalada.
- Lugbe Federal Housing, near Tipper Garage.
- Wuse Zone 5, near Access Bank.
- AYA Roundabout.
Suspects Apprehended and Items Recovered
The operation led to the arrest of eight suspects, who attempted to flee upon sighting the police operatives. Swift action by the team ensured their capture.
Recovered items during the raid include:
- 100 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.
- Large quantities of dried cannabis leaves.
- Encapsulated illicit drugs in substantial amounts.
Police Commitment to Safety
The FCT Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in the territory. These operations underline the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related activities and its resolve to make Abuja a safer place.
