Nigerian superstar and Afrobeats singer, Davido has stated that Canadian rapper, Drake, helped in putting the global spotlight on Afrobeats.

The multi-award-winning artist whose real name is David Adeleke, said this while answering questions in an interview with Bootleg Kev Podcast, published on Tuesday.

Speaking on how the Canadian Grammy-Winning singer has helped in spotlighting afrobeat, Davido said, “There are always narratives like, “Oh, Afrobeats was definitely huge before Drake” but Drake is Drake, so I’d be lying if I said he didn’t put some spotlight on Afrobeats, and you know it was dope.
