The Ògún state police command has arrested about one hundred and fifty suspects in connection with the recent unrest amid Covid-19 Lockdown.
The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun announced this via his social media handle.
The governor reiterated his administration policy to not condone crimes and hooliganism.
He promised to dealt with the culprits arrested ruthlessly.
Announcing the command’s feat, he said, “I am glad to announce that the Ogun State Police Command has arrested about 150 suspects in relation to the recent spate of crimes which caused tension for residents within the Agbado Ijaiye, Sango, Ijoko and Ifo axis.”
“I have always stated that I will not tolerate crime under any guise, and this was why I immediately directed the Command and other relevant agencies to promptly move with full force against the criminals perpetrating the acts of terror, when I was briefed.”
” Our Government refuses to accommodate any criminal in the State, and I will ensure that any criminal caught will be dealt with ruthlessly. Going forward, criminals will not be spared from the maximum punishment permissible by law, if that is what would curb a recurrence.”
The governor assure the security agency of support, whilst he enjoins all law abiding citizens to go by their regular activities in the course of Covid-19 Lockdown.
” I commend the agencies for their swift response and effective arrests, which have now returned order to the areas.
Meanwhile, we will continue to provide necessary support to the Armed Forces to curb crimes not only in these areas but across the State.”
” I enjoin law-abiding residents to continue with their usual activities, comply with the stay-at-home directive, and maintain distancing and hygiene recommendations, as we all fight the COVID-19 spread in our dear State”, Dapo Abiodun concluded.
