Nigerian Police, Local Security Outfit Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Oyo

The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with local security outfits, has successfully rescued three abductees in Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State. The rescue operation was carried out following a coordinated response to a kidnapping incident that occurred on February 24, 2025.

Swift Police Intervention Leads to Rescue

According to a press statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the victims—Olori Hakimat Sadia (50), Olori Rakyat (45), and Monsuru Ganiyu (20)—were abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji by a group of ten armed men. However, the tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command, with support from local security operatives, swung into action and successfully secured their release on February 25.

One of the suspected kidnappers has been apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining culprits.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Organized Crime

This successful rescue operation is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s intensified efforts to combat organized crime, including kidnapping, banditry, and armed robbery. In a separate development, police operatives in Taraba State also raided a criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry season rice farms, leading to the arrest of 20 male suspects and the recovery of arms, including an AK-47 rifle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.


IGP Orders Special Task Force for Prince Ojajuni’s Rescue


Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to prioritize the rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja. The police have assured the public that all necessary resources are being deployed to ensure his safe return.



Police Warn Against Social Media Speculation

The police have also urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information about ongoing rescue operations, as this could jeopardize efforts to safely retrieve victims.
