Paris 2024 Olympics | How To Watch Nigeria Super Falcons Live

For the first time in 16 years, Nigeria Super Falcons will contest women’s Olympic football once more.

The Super Falcons return to the global stage at Paris 2024, failing to qualify for the three previous Games.

Their last appearance came at Beijing 2008, where they exited at the group stage.

Led by star forward Asisat Oshoala, Nigeria will take on Brazil, Spain, and Japan in Group C.

NIGERIA’S PERFORMANCE IN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL AT THE OLYMPICS

Paris will mark just the fourth time Nigeria has contested women’s football at the Games.

Despite missing out on Atlanta 1996, where the women’s tournament debuted, the Super Falcons would go on to qualify for the next three Games.

Debutants at Sydney 2000, gold medal favourites United States and Norway cruised out of Group F, where Nigeria finished bottom and winless.

It appeared Athens 2004 would be their shot at redemption when they made it out of the groups for the first time, but eventual bronze medallists Germany would pip them to a place in the semi-final, winning 2-1.

2008 was an eerily mirror image of their debut eight years prior – bottom of Group F, without a win, and going home earlier than hoped. But Nigeria has come a long way during their 16-year absence from the tournament, as they go in search of the podium for the first time.

They open their Paris account on Thursday (25 July), against Brazil.
