Portable Endorses Tinubu, Oyetola After Collecting Cash, Confirms He’s Been Paid To Do So
Portable, the fast-rising Nigerian singer, has declared his support for the re-election bid of Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state.
The musician, born Habeeb Okikiola, shared videos from his visit to Osogbo, the state capital — where he met the governor and his campaign team — via his Instagram page on Wednesday.
In one of the videos, Portable urged the people of Osun to vote for Oyetola during the gubernatorial election billed for July 16 in order to “enjoy good governance”.
Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC) will slug it out with Ademola Adeleke, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside other aspirants during Saturday’s poll.
During the visit, Portable also declared his support for the presidential bid of Bola Tinubu, the ex-Lagos governor, seeking to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
“Support APC, vote for Tinubu… only Oyetola and Tinubu can do it,” he said.
In a post accompanying the video, he wrote: “re-elect @adegboyegaoyetola 4 + 4 Akoi APC Osun state Governor Dõn show love Akoi grace.”
The singer was also seen showing off money allegedly given to him by the governor’s team during the visit amid cheers from his fans.
Portable gained prominence in December 2021 when he put out ‘Zazoo Zeh’, his hit track featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
The singer has since then been in the news for controversial reasons.
Portable, the fast-rising Nigerian singer, has claimed the All Progressives Congress (APC), paid him to support Bola Tinubu, its presidential candidate, ahead of the 2023 election.
The singer, born Habeeb Okikiola, had visited Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state, during which he backed his re-election bid.
During his meeting with Oyetola in Osogbo, the state capital, he endorsed Tinubu for president.
He also flaunted money believed to have been given to him by Oyetola in a now-viral video.
His action had elicited a chorus of condemnation on social media, with many Nigerians calling him out.
But in a follow-up video via his Instagram page, Portable hit back at his critics.
The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner claimed he was paid to support the ex-Lagos governor for president, adding that his critics should allow him to do his “job”.
Portable also claimed that he was once paid to insult Tinubu.
