Shan George’s Marriage Manual: Investigate First, Say ‘I Do’ Later! 🔍💍
When it comes to love and marriage, veteran actress, singer, and producer Shan George is dropping gems that could save your life—or at least save you from unnecessary heartbreak and premium tears! 😆
The Nollywood legend has sent out a serious warning: Before you say “I do,” make sure you’ve done your homework! And no, we’re not talking about checking whether they snore at night or if their ex is still in the picture—we mean serious family background investigations!
Marriage is Not by Vibes and Insha Allah! 🚫
Shan George believes that many of the issues that lead to domestic violence, emotional abuse, and even generational wahala can be traced to a person’s family lineage.
“I will advise that like it used to be done in the past, please do an investigation into a person’s family history, genotype, and other important issues before marriage. Some of the things that cause pressure that aggravates to abuse, most times are in the lineage.”
Translation? Love is sweet, but background check is sweeter! 😂
🔍 Key things to investigate before marriage (according to Aunty Shan’s Manual):
✅ Family history – Do they have a history of wahala? Any red flags of abuse, stubbornness, or a generational curse of ‘I don’t know what I want’? 😭
✅ Genotype – Before love turns to lifetime hospital bills, know your AS, SS, and AA matter.
✅ Temperament check – Can they hold a conversation without throwing hands or breaking TV remote controls?
✅ Emotional intelligence – If they argue like a Facebook comment section, 🚩🚩🚩

Aunty Shan is basically telling us that love is not enough to build a happy home—you need wisdom and plenty sense. She also pointed out that because society gives men more authority at home, some abusive partners get away with their actions, and many victims stay silent because of love, children, or pressure.
But she’s not here for that! Speak up! Set standards! Walk away if necessary!
Crime and Punishment: The Society Must Do Better!
Beyond love matters, Shan George also had some words on Nigeria’s response to crime and abuse cases. She praised the outrage from Nigerians whenever an injustice occurs but noted that once security agents step in, people tend to step back.
“There’s a good outrage about such situations already. Once security agents are handling the case, it’s normal for people to back down a bit. Until maybe when they sense an injustice in the handling of the case.”
In other words, Nigerians dey vex, but we need to sustain that energy until justice is served! 🔥
Shan George’s Final Word: Marriage is Not for the Weak!
At the end of the day, marriage is more than fine pre-wedding pictures and cute Instagram captions. If you’re not ready to dig deep, ask questions, and do some serious investigation, you might just be signing up for a lifetime of drama. And Nollywood has already given us enough of that! 😆
So, before you say “yes” to that ring, do your research, pray well, and most importantly—carry sense follow body!
What do you think? Do people still investigate their partners before marriage, or is love now a game of luck? 🤔 Drop your thoughts in the comments! 👇🏽😂
