It was Nigeria’s U-20 first point at the ongoing African cup of nations in Egypt and Nigeria defender and match-winner, Solomon Agbalaka says the Flying Eagles deserved their hard-fought 1-0 victory over hosts Egypt.
The Flying Eagles lost their opening game to Senegal by a lone goal but bounced back against the hosts in their second group A game to beat the host by the same margin.
The left-back powered home the winner twenty minutes from time. And speaking after the match, Agbalaka who was voted man of the match said the Eagles deserved the victory,
In his words, “We deserved to win, we worked very hard, so I would like to thank my coach and all my colleagues for their efforts.
I’m very happy with the result of the match. The match was not easy as we were facing the hosts.”
The hosts created numerous chances but failed to make it count in front of their passionate supporters but the defender insists they deserve the victory.
Both teams will fancy the chance of progressing as Egypt will be desperately looking to secure maximum points against already qualified Senegal, while Nigeria will have to beat Moçambique or at least secure a draw for a chance to progress into the quarter-finals.
