WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons Beat Naija Ratel, Held To 1-1 Draw By Bayelsa Queens
Ahead of WAFCON, the Super Falcons defeated Nigeria Women’s Professional Football League side, Naija Ratel FC 1-0 in a friendly game in Abuja on Thursday night.
The game was played at practice pitch 1 of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Omowunmi Bello scored the winning goal for the Super Falcons early in the second half.
Randy Waldrum’s charges also engaged another NWPFL side, Bayelsa Queens in another friendly also on Thursday night.
Bayelsa Queens, who are the NWPFL champions took a shock lead in the first half of the keenly contested encounter.
Captain Onome Ebi however equalized for the Super Falcons late in the game.
The nine-time champions are expected to play more tune-up games ahead of their participation at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The West Africans are in Group C along with title rivals, South Africa, Burundi, and Botswana.
The Super Falcons will face the Banyana Banyana Banyana of South Africa in their first game in Rabat on July 4.
