Why We Can’t Officially Confirm Hilda Baci As New World Record Holder – Guinness Book Of Records

The Guinness Book of Records has lauded Hilda Bacci’s attempt at breaking the world record for cooking but says it can’t immediately confirm her as the new world record holder for the world’s longest cooking marathon.

Hilda beat Indian chef, Lata Tondon, who currently holds that title. Tondon achieved his Guinness World feat in 2019 with 87 hours and 4 5 minutes of uninterrupted cooking.

The acknowledgment was made in response to an inquiry by one Alexander, in the early hours of Monday, May 15, 2023, seeking to know why Baci’s success was yet to be acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.

Alexander wrote; “Why is Guinness World Records not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-thon? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).”

In response to the inquiry, the Guinness Book of Records wrote on their official Twitter handle; “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”

In another statement released by the British reference body, Hilda’s effort is currently being reviewed.
The statement, released on their official website read; “She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.

“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.”

According to the British reference body, one of its spokespersons said they “are looking forward to receiving the evidence for its Records Management Team to review before we can confirm the record is official.”

Hilda was born on September 20, 1996. She hails from Akwa-Ibom state.

The Nigerian chef has a degree in Sociology from Madonna University, Okija.

She owns a food brand in Lagos called “My Food by Hilda.” Hilda started this brand with her brother while still in school.
Hilda also ran a cooking segment ‘In My Kitchen,’ on Rave TV’s breakfast show, Morning Rave, as well as the show Dine on A Budget, on Pop Central TV.

She’s also appeared in multiple Nigerian TV shows and movies. She played a supporting lead character in the movie “Dream Chaser,” and appeared in some episodes of “Sideways, Flatmates, A Walk on the Water, and Mr & Mrs Robert.
