Tyson Fury beats Deontay Wilder to become heavyweight world champion

Tyson Fury delivered a stunning performance to stop Deontay Wilder and become a two-time heavyweight world champion.

Fury started well and never slowed down, dropping the American for the first time in his career in the third round.

Although the champion survived, he looked short of ideas as Fury’s aggressive tactics took him by surprise.

Wilder was able to stagger through another round but was dropped again the fifth by a body shot.

Again the champion showed remarkable resilience to see out the stanza but he looked short of time.

Wilder lasted until the seventh round when the towel came in after a sustained attack in the corner.

Fury came agonisingly close to beating Wilder 14 months ago when he clambered off the canvas twice to hear the final bell.

He looked to have done enough to dethrone the long-reigning champion but was denied victory when the judges scored the bout a draw.FURY IS THE NEW WBC KING!

After a heavy onslaught, Wilder’s corner throw in the towel!

Quite simply a brilliant performance from Tyson Fury!

The Brit is simply teeing off on his man, unloading huge shots from both fists.

A huge left and Wilder, bloodied and bruised, can barely stand as he reels backwards. He somehow makes it to the second half of this fight.

Titanic right hands land flush from the Brit as they rise from their stools, Wilder looks like he’s fighting on instinct!

WILDER DOWN! Fury goes on the attack and Wilder, absolutely spent, is again down, this time from a body shot.

The American doesn’t seem to have anything left, he survives another round but surely Fury will finish this…

The WBC champ is on the canvas again but again it’s a slip. Fury wants the knockout and hammers away at the body.

‘The Gypsy King’ is loading up on that right but just can’t quite land it clean. Wilder’s lip is a bloody mess but he does well to regain his senses.

Two crunching rights land flush from Fury, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ must be feeling these.

WILDER DOWN! Left-right combo and Wilder is down! He’s on unsteady legs!

He gets up and falls over again but it’s called a slip, he’s all over the place, he’s saved by the bell…

Fury is confident and aggressive on the front foot, closing his man down, but another Wilder right hand delivers a timely reminder.

The two exchange jabs before Fury lands a left! A big short right on the bell and ‘The Gypsy King’ is dictating things, has he hurt the American?

‘The Gypsy King’ takes to the centre of the ring and shoots out his jab but it’s Wilder who sinks in a right hand early.

Every punch is being roared on here and Fury fires in a flush right, the shot of the round. The Brit in control and letting his hands go, he’s made the better start!
