CHAN 2022 | Algeria vs Senegal | Dessert Foxes Lost To Teranga Lions On Penalties

Senegal has continued their dominance of African football as they secured another continental title; Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) by defeating hosts Algeria in a penalty shootout.

The home-based Lions of Teranga have never won the title until the 2022 edition.

The victory over Algeria saw the West Africans complete the treble in a year that has seen them lift the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well as the Beach Soccer AFCON

After both teams failed to find the back of the net following a pulsating 120 minutes of football, Senegal then went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

While the Teranga Lions converted all their spot kicks, Algeria saw one of their attempt saved by the opposition keeper.

Meanwhile, Algeria set a new tournament record by not conceding in six games at the tournament in regular time. The final was the first game to go into extra time.

In the third-place match played on Friday, a 90th-minute goal by Madagascar saw them pip Benin Republic 1-0.
