Halima Abubakar: “I Spoke Out Because I Didn’t Want to Die”

Popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has opened up about her health struggles, revealing that she reached out to Nigerians for help because she was tired of going through the same cycle of asking the same people over and over again.

In an exclusive interview with Nollygistv, Halima shared her emotional journey, saying:

💬 “I knew I was getting serious. And when I was in the village, I just thought within me, is this how it’s going to end? What I am going through has not been easy. It is something that takes one’s happiness away and makes one so angry. But, one has to look at the positive side of life and just keep struggling. I know that this won’t last forever.”

The actress, who has been battling health issues for years, revealed that going public was a tough decision, but it was necessary for her survival.

💬 “I had to find the strength to go public. I don’t know how, but I just had to do it. A closed mouth is a closed destiny, and I’m not ready to die. And I don’t want to ask the same people again. How would people know that I need help if I don’t speak out?”

Despite the support she has received, Halima noted that some Nollywood colleagues have been unsupportive, even accusing her of lying.

💬 “The people saying that I am lying are a few Nollywood people; don’t mind them. They are all people from my industry. I don’t care about that.”

However, she remains grateful for the kind-hearted individuals who have come through for her.

💬 “A lot of people have been wonderful, and two of my friends have been particularly helpful. Aside from that, it has just been God, myself, and the help I have been getting recently.”

💡 Her message to others facing tough times? Trust yourself, prioritize your family, and keep pushing forward.

💬 “Take care of your family because those are the only people who truly wish you well.”
