In a decisive move to curb crime and enhance security, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded multiple successful operations in Lagos, leading to key arrests and the recovery of dangerous weapons.
The Force, through its proactive policing strategy, continues to reinforce its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while urging Nigerians to remain vigilant against criminals’ evolving tactics.
Murder Suspect Apprehended in Ikoyi
On February 5, 2025, officers from the Ikoyi Division swiftly responded to a violent altercation at Falomo Square involving two individuals, Okeke Johnchris and William Wisdom, both aged 33. The dispute escalated when Okeke allegedly rammed his Lexus saloon car into William, causing life-threatening injuries. Despite being rushed to Gbagada General Hospital, William succumbed to his wounds. The suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The Nigeria Police has urged the public to avoid violent confrontations and seek legal means to resolve disputes, emphasizing that no one should take the law into their own hands.
Armed Suspect Caught Concealing Pistol in MP3 Radio
In another major breakthrough, officers of the Satellite Division intercepted a 24-year-old suspect, Wisdom Obi, during a routine patrol at Abule Ado bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on February 7, 2025. Obi was riding an unregistered motorcycle when police stopped him for questioning. A search revealed a concealed brownie pistol with 13 rounds of live ammunition inside an MP3 radio. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, while the motorcycle and weapon were seized as evidence.
Traffic Robbers Nabbed in Orile-Iganmu
On the same day, the Orile Iganmu Division officers arrested four notorious traffic robbers attempting to attack passengers stranded due to a vehicle breakdown at the Ascon White Sand area. The suspects, identified as Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyin John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon, had been operating under the guise of street traders. Their arrest serves as a warning to other criminals who exploit traffic congestion to target unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians.
Police Caution Against Crime and Violence
The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens, warning the public to be cautious of criminal activities. Residents are advised to stay vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid taking justice into their own hands.
The Force remains steadfast in its mission to combat crime and strengthen public trust in law enforcement. With continued cooperation from the public, Nigeria moves closer to achieving a safer and more secure society.
