Nigeria Police Debunks SARS Reinstatement Rumours
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially dismissed rumors suggesting the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on February 10, 2025, the police reaffirmed that SARS remains dissolved and is not being reintroduced under any reformed structure.
The statement comes in response to growing speculation that the controversial police unit, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, was making a comeback with new rules of engagement.
The NPF has urged Nigerians to disregard such misinformation and verify the authenticity of news before sharing or believing it.
