🏆 From Bantwana with Love: Khumalo’s Battle Cry for Ikenne Redemption! 🇿🇦🔥
Ladies and Gentlemen, buckle up! The return leg of the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers is just around the corner, and boy, oh boy, is it about to get lit! The Bantwana of South Africa are marching to Nigeria, not for jollof rice or pounded yam, but for sweet redemption.
🟢⚪ Flashback: Flamingos on Fire!
In the first leg, the Flamingos turned Bantwana into Bant-wanderers with a 3-1 smackdown. Nigeria’s midfield dynamo, Shakirat Moshood, opened the score sheet like a pro at just 20 minutes in. Then came Harmony Chidi, scoring a brace that had South Africa’s defence looking like mannequins in a shop window!
Not to be completely outdone, Bantwana’s captain, Katlego Malebana, delivered a spot-kick so cool it could’ve put ice in your Coke. It was South Africa’s only goal, but hey, when life gives you penalties, you score!
🎤 Khumalo Speaks: “We Lost It in the First Half”
After the match, Bantwana’s head coach, Ntombifuthi Khumalo, played the “we didn’t concentrate” card.
“First half is where we lost the game—the concentration, the instruction. But second half, we came back strong!”
In other words, the first half was ‘Uncle, have mercy!’ but the second half? ‘Who no go no go know!’ 😆
Khumalo praised her captain, Malebana, for being a leader with “character in any situation.” Well, character alone won’t cut it in Ikenne. It’s time for Bantwana to bring more fire than a Yoruba pepper soup!

🎯 The Plan for Ikenne: All In or All Out!
Khumalo believes that playing away from home gives her girls a shot at redemption:
“We don’t have anything to lose. We do our best to try and redeem ourselves and come back into the game.”
Translation: “Nigeria, we are coming! We might not win, but we sure won’t go down quietly!”
Bantwana’s new strategy seems to be ‘Go big or go home,’ except in this case, ‘Go big or don’t bother going back home!’
🏟️ Why Ikenne Might Be No Playground
But hold up, the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne is no easy turf. The Flamingos have turned it into a fortress, and they’ll be out to show the Bantwana why “Naija no dey carry last.”
Coach Khumalo’s optimism is heartwarming, but the question remains: Can her girls withstand the heat in Ikenne, both figuratively and literally? We all know how Nigerian fans can turn up—louder than a vuvuzela in a small room!
🤔 What to Expect: Goals or Gbas Gbos?
One thing is certain—this match will either be a heroic comeback or a ‘God, when?’ moment for Bantwana. Can South Africa deliver an ‘Ojoro cancel Ojoro’ kind of performance? Or will the Flamingos flap their way into the next round like they own it?
We’re counting down to kickoff, and if you need the best highlights, CitySports NG, Sports Afrique, and Trends Sports have got you covered on YouTube.
