Portable: Ogun State Government Lament Singer’s Primitive And Indecent Act

The Ogun State Government has lamented Portable’s primitive and indecent act, vowing to take legal action against the singer.

Portable, whose real name is  Habeeb Okikiola, is known for controversy since coming into the limelight in the Nigerian music industry.

The Ogun State government accused the artist and his cohort of incessantly assaulting its official without provocation”.

The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun was reacting to the attack on government officials at Portable’s bar d around Iyana Ilogbo in the Sango Ota area of the state.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, on Friday,  said government officials who were carrying out their lawful duty was attacked by the singer and his cohorts. He said the action would be addressed in line with the law.

He said, “We are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of the Hip-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Wednesday, in Iyana the Ilogbo area of the state where his bar is located.

“The way in which Portable and some set of miscreants he employed in the dastardly act attacked the officials of the OGPDPA is not only bizarre but a confirmation of erosion of

Omoluabi ethos in those individuals and indeed a great disgrace to the state.

“Governor Dapo Abiodun totally condemned this primitive and indecent act and reiterated his avowed commitment to just and egalitarian society as he is ready to make any individual flouting the extant law of the land to face the full wrath of the law irrespective of social status and influence.”

Portable On The Run, His Cohort Arraigned In Court

The defendants who have been arraigned include Nurudeen Warris, 21; Adetola Alashe, 25; Samuel Adeleke, 28; Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, 19; Oluwapelumi Adeosun, 20; Gospel Kanu, 20; Precious Ohiegebo, 19; Ifeoluwa Babatunde, 27; and Fatimo Muhammed, 26—faced five charges, including assault, obstruction, possession of dangerous weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

According to the court, Portable and his boys beat up the planning officers—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero.

The singer and his boys were allegedly armed with guns and cutlasses when they clashed with the officials.

Portable is currently on the run while his boys have been granted a N50 million bail by the court.

The case has been adjourned to the 17th of March, 2025.
